Depending on your needs, the facelift procedure can be about:

  • A full facelift (integrated lifting procedure).
  • The lower part of the face and neck.
  • The cheekbone area and the middle third of the face (midface lift).
  • The forehead area (brow lift).

A facelift:

  • Removes excess skin, tightens the surrounding tissues and muscles and removes sagging skin from the face and neck.
  • Corrects the marionette lines, even the double chin, affirming its reputation as the ‘golden standard’ in facial rejuvenation surgeries.

Every year, thousands of people undergo successful facelift surgery and are very satisfied with the results.

When to consider a facelift

  • If you feel that your face does not reflect your youthful spirit, with everything this may entail.
  • If you find out that the relaxation on your face and the sagging skin have a social and psychological impact on you.
  • If the signs of ageing are visible on your face, but your skin still retains some elasticity.
  • If you have realized that time, gravity, sun exposure and heredity have brought about degenerative changes.

In general, a facelift can substantially improve many areas of the face during a single surgical procedure.

Another advantage is that the results can last for ten years or more, which means that you will look ten to fifteen years younger.

The results that can be achieved on the neck and chin, rank the facelift as the optimum technique.

What I point out to all my patients who are interested in a facelift, is this: ‘A facelift will not create a new you, just a younger version of you.’

How to know if you need a facelift

The following are some common facial features that ‘call out’ for a facelift:

  • Sagging skin in the middle third of the face.
  • Deep wrinkles running from your nose to the corners of your mouth, known as nasomalar folds.
  • Lines extending from each corner of your mouth and reach under your chin (marionette lines).
  • The volume of the face has begun to shift downward.
  • Relaxation and loss of muscle tone in the lower part of the face.
  • Double chin, resulting from loose skin and excessive fat deposition under the chin.
  • Intense skin sagging on your neck.

How a facelift is performed

With the appropriate surgical facelift techniques, I can restore the tissues and the skin of a face to a younger state, giving it a natural and youthful look.

Earlier techniques, which involved pulling the skin from the cheekbones diagonally towards the scalp, led to distortion of the eyes and the facial features.

That’s why I perform a vertical facelift, which does not cause any deformities.

Another advantage of the lifting technique is the hidden scars. The incisions are made at the temples behind the hairline, and continue following the natural curve of the ear and then horizontally behind the hairline, thus remaining almost invisible.

The surgery is performed under local anesthesia and deep sedation, in an organized operating room. The patient remains awake and communicates with the surgeon. An experienced anesthesiologist supervises the entire procedure, thus contributing to the overall surgical safety.

The duration of the procedure is 2-4 hours, depending on the selected combination of surgical procedures and the patient has to stay in hospital overnight. Smokers run a higher risk of skin necrosis, usually over a small area behind the ear. Hematoma is a rare complication. An elastic bandage is placed in the area for 2-3 days and the stitches are removed after 7-15 days.

My goal is clear: to help you achieve the most beautiful and natural results, and make your surgical experience as easy and comfortable as possible.

Myths and truths about facelift:

MYTH

TRUTH

The resulting look is always rather unnatural.

The vertical facelift technique delivers an absolutely natural result.

It lasts forever.

The ageing process continues, but you always look younger than what you would without the facelift.

The postoperative period lasts too long.

With the new techniques that I implement, recovery time is much shorter.

The best time is when we are quite old.

A facelift should be performed at the age when we feel we most need it.
