When to consider blepharoplasty

• If you have excess skin that covers the natural crease of the upper eyelid.
• If you have loose skin hanging down from the upper eyelid over the eyelashes.
• If the upper and lower eyelids look puffy, making your eyes look tired and aged.
• If you have prominent “eye bags” under the eyes.

How blepharoplasty is performed

Eyelid surgery can be performed on the upper eyelids, the lower eyelids, or both.

The surgical technique will be determined based on my preoperative evaluation and depending on your facial and bone structure as well as your eyebrow symmetry.

In upper eyelid blepharoplasty, an incision is carefully made along the natural crease of the eyelid, which ensures its invisibility after recovery. Excess skin is removed along with the correct amount of fat, if necessary, so that we can safely achieve a harmonious and beautiful result.

In lower eyelid blepharoplasty, I employ a modern surgical technique, that of the lower eyelid blepharoplasty with fat transfer. The relaxation of the lower eyelid section is corrected and the anti-aesthetic «eye bags» are removed. The transfer and redistribution of fat over the orbital rim allows me to fill dark circles (the valley of tears), thus eliminating the look of tiredness, offering youthfulness and a totally balanced result.

Another technique, aimed at younger ages, is blepharoplasty without an external incision (transconjuctival approach), in which only fat is removed, not skin. The incision is made inside the eyelid and the excess fat which creates unsightly bags is removed.

Skin elasticity and quality are not in the least affected.

The surgery is performed in an organized operating room, in the presence of an anesthesiologist. It lasts about an hour, and it has impressive recovery time and minimal swellings, which – thanks to my technique – recede gradually but quickly.

Myths and truths about blepharoplasty:

MYTH	TRUTH
It will eliminate the “crow’s feet” forever.	The “crow’s feet” is eliminated only with Botox treatment.
The scars on the upper or lower lid will be apparent.	Because skin in these areas is very thin, it heals extremely well, while the imperceptible incision is entirely hidden in the natural crease of the eyelids.
The dark circles will disappear.	Dark circles are improved only with the application of the fat transfer technique.
It is a surgical procedure with only temporary results.	The results of the upper eyelid surgery may last up to ten years, while those of the lower eyelid surgery last practically forever, as ‘eye bags’ rarely reappear.
